Best Essential Oil Recipe to Help Kids Sleep Peacefully (Finally)



Summer is always a time of making the most of our daylight hours! We go, go, go!


Sometimes, it is hard to wind down after pool shenanigans, campouts, family reunions, and just getting to run around in the heat of the day.


I remember fighting my parents to go to bed when it felt like the sun just barely put itself to bed! I wanted to soak up every bit of summer like the sun and fresh air starved being that I was during the winter!


Pushing bedtime and energy limits, plus maybe a varying schedule compared to the school year, can leave kids overly exhausted. They may have a hard time winding down to get that sleep they so desperately need. I’m pretty sure you, as the parent, could use this blend, too!


Here is a recipe that I think is the bees knees for helping littles ones fall asleep.


I recommend using unscented lotion or jojoba as your base.  This will keep from stimulating your child's senses when they're supposed to be calming down!


Use this blend after their night time bath/shower, or you could even diffuse these oils for about an hour at bedtime. Rub into feet or on back for extra relaxation. For those 2-5 year olds, I would half the drops. Under 2 years old? Diffusing may be your best bet.


Here's your sleepy blend:


1 oz unscented lotion in glass or PET plastic

4 drops Cedarwood Juniperus virginiana

2-3 drops Roman chamomile Chamaemelum nobile

2 drops Sweet orange citrus sinensis


Shake the bottle really well and label it carefully.


If you feel this blend is a little sweet, you can add a drop or two of lavender or vetiver.
